LENGA

“Specie of Best-Value”

dovetail drawers species

We are proud to offer Lenga as our most popular and cost-effective solid wood specie.

When we started manufacturing, we used Lenga as our primary material for custom drawers.  We chose Lenga because it is a quality hardwood, resembling Cherry, at a very favorable discount in price.  Consequently, we were able to offer high-quality custom dovetail drawers at competitive prices.  Likewise, even today, we maintain Lenga as our specie of “best value” in our current, much expanded offering of wood species and grades of material.

The largest forest biomass of Lenga wood in existence is concentrated at the southern tip of South America in the Chilean Patagonia region.  Lenga is classified as an abundant species that is not threatened or endangered.  To clarify, native Lenga forests cover a surface area of approximately 9.88 million acres.  Moreover, of this area, about 1,358,500 acres are economically productive forest, which could be harvested.  Meanwhile, the remainder is part of protected wildlife areas that are intended to ensure the conservation of forestry ecosystems.  In addition, these wildlife areas also protect watercourses, and soil on steeply sloping hillsides.

Lenga sapwood is of a yellowish-white color, and the heartwood ranges from pale pink to dark red.  In addition, it has noticeable, but not pronounced growth rings.  It also has excellent resistance to changes in color from exposure to light.

In short, many customers choose Lenga for their custom size drawers because it is affordable and strong.  It has straight fiber, soft texture, high-quality wood finishing properties, and the absence of knots and other inclusions.  Consequently, Lenga is a wood which has high workability.
